Resources have been transferred to education through recycling

Thanks to the environmental practices realized through the contribution of Yemeksepeti employees, savings have been achieved in many areas. For example, 2005 kg of waste paper was recycled, avoiding 361 kg of greenhouse gas emissions and saving 8,129 kWh of energy. During the joint day with the employees, 1,600 kg of electronic waste and 36 kg of battery waste were recycled by TÜBİSAD and TAP to support the education costs of children in Darüşşafaka.

As a result of the year-long effort, more than 44% more plastic waste and 163% more paper waste was recycled at Yemeksepeti Park compared to the previous year’s data. With the automation system defined within the scope of the program, 16% less electricity and 26% less natural gas were consumed compared to other years.

Sustainable change in lifestyle

Thanks to the glass thermos flasks provided to employees in the office, 50% less plastic and 70% fewer plastic bottles were used compared to the previous year. The purchase of 22% less paper in 2023 was another notable result. 100 recycled paper was used for printed documents. Yemeksepeti employees have also started using porcelain cups instead of disposable paper cups.

At Yemeksepeti Park, all energy was generated from renewable energy sources by obtaining IREC certification. To reduce water consumption, aerators were installed on the taps, resulting in water savings of 30%.

Awareness-raising events

Numerous awareness-raising events were organized, such as the Green Office Kick-off Meeting, Zero Waste, Circular Design Principles, DIY (Do It Yourself) Upcycling Workshop. On Recycling Day, Everyday Roastery Sustainability Event organized a workshop for employees to make flower pots from recyclable coffee cups. To measure the level of awareness, surveys with 12 different contents were conducted in November 2022, April 2023 and June 2023. The results showed that the level of awareness among employees increased from 75% to 82%.
