- Zero Waste Bags are being distributed to 10 million citizens this year as part of Environment Week, which is being declared by Turkey for the first time in the world. As part of the social responsibility project, in which Yemeksepeti is also involved, environmentally friendly bags will be delivered to 250 thousand users who place orders at Yemeksepeti Market on June 5and 10.
As part of the Environment Week organized under the leadership of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, a meaningful awareness project will be carried out with the support of industry representatives. As part of the project, Zero Waste Bags will be distributed to 10 million citizens during Environment Week.
Under the project, in which Yemeksepeti is also involved, 250 thousand users in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir will be gifted with eco-friendly bags along with the orders placed at Yemeksepeti Market from June 5 to 10, 2022.
Zero waste, zero loss” project in figures
The “Zero Waste” and “Zero Waste Blue” projects initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change prevent waste from entering the oceans and causing pollution there.
Since the project began, a total of 24, 16.5 million tons of paper/cardboard, 4.1 million tons of plastic, 1.7 million tons of glass, 0.4 million tons of metal, and 1.5 million tons of organic and other recyclable waste have been collected. 2 million tons of recyclable waste were fed into the economy, and the collected waste generated an economic profit of TL 30 billion.
Thank you to the project, which avoided 3 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions, 265 million trees were saved. The generation of 550 thousand tons of plastic waste was prevented, about 3.8 billion TL were saved and 22 thousand 746 tons of greenhouse gas emissions were avoided.
