Turkey’s Baklava Map of Yemeksepeti

  • Yemeksepeti has announced the ordering trends for baklava, a dessert associated with Turkish holidays. Among the baklava varieties ordered through Yemeksepeti since April 2023, Cold Baklava, Baklava with Pistachio, Baklava with Walnut and Shell Baklava were the most popular.

Yemeksepeti, the leading quick trade brand in Turkey, used data to determine the baklava preferences of Turks. Cold baklava was the most popular type of baklava with a total of 441 thousand orders placed through Yemeksepeti with different weight choices since April 2023. Cold baklava, which offers a refreshing taste especially on hot summer days, is the favorite of dessert lovers.

Baklava with pistachios, one of the classics of Turkish cuisine, was the second most preferred type of baklava with 307 thousand orders in different weight categories. The choice of those who love the traditional baklava flavor, baklava with pistachio continues to be indispensable for Eid tables.

Walnut baklava, which was compared to pistachio baklava especially on social media, came third in the list with a total of 127 thousand orders in different weight categories. The intense flavor and crunchy texture of walnut baklava is often preferred by baklava lovers.

Seashell baklava, the choice of those looking for a special flavor, was ordered 49 thousand times on Yemeksepeti. The shell baklava attracts attention with its special shape and flavor and leaves an unforgettable taste on the palate.

Profiterole is the champion in the dessert category

According to Yemeksepeti, profiteroles, kazandibi, waffles and baked rice pudding are the most popular desserts in the dessert category in Turkey. Profiteroles is the top seller with 233 thousand orders since April 2023, followed by kazandibi with 229 thousand orders.

Waffle, one of the favorite choices of dessert lovers, is in third place with 162 thousand orders, while Oven Rice Pudding is in fourth place with 146 thousand orders. This data once again shows the rich variety of desserts in Turkey and the preference of Yemeksepeti users for desserts.

Dessert preferences change depending on the region

According to Yemeksepeti’s data, dessert preferences vary across the different regions and provinces of Turkey. While local flavors such as Balıkesir Höşmerim Dessert and Pazaryeri Halva are popular in the Marmara region, Kayseri Nevzine Dessert and Afyonkarahisar Turkish Delight stand out in Central Anatolia. In the Aegean region, Izmir Lokma and Manisa Mesir Macunu are among the most popular desserts.

Erzurum Kadayıf Dolma in Eastern Anatolia, Gaziantep Baklava and Şanlıurfa Şıllık Dessert in Southeastern Anatolia are among the most frequently ordered desserts. This data shows how diverse Turkey’s rich dessert culture is and how much Yemeksepeti users love the local desserts.
