This valuable information obtained by Yemeksepeti provided an enlightening perspective on trends, preferences and habits in pizza consumption. The increase in the time spent outdoors during the summer days and the holiday season have brought pizza orders to the peak in Turkey. In summer 2023, pizza orders increased by 26% compared to summer 2022.

Third place after Turkish cuisine and burgers

According to Yemeksepeti data, pizza orders ranked third in the overall ranking after Kebab and Turkish Cuisine and Burger. The order list according to pizza types gave clues about the Turkish palate. According to the results, Mixed Pizza topped the list with its variety appealing to the palate, while Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza, which are meaty flavours, ranked second and third respectively.

The most popular flavour of the weekend is pizza

According to Yemeksepeti data, certain times of the day and certain days of the week clearly stand out in pizza orders. The peak of order intensity is reached in the evening hours. In all 24 hours, 32% of pizza orders are placed between 18:00-20:00. On a daily basis, there is a definite increase in pizza orders on weekend days. On Sundays, pizza is the champion of the day with 17% of all orders.
Pizza orders also increase on special days and important events. During periods such as derby days and university final weeks, people generally prefer to come together and pizza is the indispensable food of such meetings. On such special days, there is a significant increase in pizza orders compared to normal days. Especially on the days of important sports matches, fans enjoy the match with pizza.

Big cities are saturated with pizza

It is seen that big cities stand out in statistical scans by cities. Istanbul is at the top with 42% of pizza orders, followed by Izmir and Ankara with 9.3% and 8.1% respectively.
