21 October 2024

  • Yemeksepeti renewed its Green Office Diploma to reduce the environmental impact of its office operations and strengthen its sustainable business structure. Yemeksepeti, which has taken important steps to reduce carbon emissions and reduced food waste by 13.2%, is working to implement a circular economy approach.

Yemeksepeti, Turkey’s leading brand in fast commerce, was awarded the Green Office Diploma again this year thanks to its sustainability efforts in its office operations. Yemeksepeti’s eco-friendly office practices have become more widespread with the significant progress it has made in line with its carbon reduction and offsetting targets. Yemeksepeti’s environmentally conscious projects contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future by raising awareness of responsibility towards both its employees and nature.

Contributing to the environment with Green Office practices

Having completed its second year in the Green Office Program, Yemeksepeti continues to improve its environmentally friendly practices. It continuously raises environmental awareness through awareness-raising activities and educational communications for its employees. Having completely eliminated the use of single-use plastics in the office, Yemeksepeti has been carrying out successful projects for two years in sorting and recycling waste. This year, the company especially focused on reducing food waste and achieved a waste reduction target of 7% by upcycling 986 kg of coffee pulp.

Food waste in cafeteria reduced by 13.2%

Taking innovative steps to prevent food waste in its office operations, Yemeksepeti last year significantly reduced waste with a project implemented in its cafeteria. Yemeksepeti reduced food waste by 13.2% to an average of 29.6 kg per day with the smart weighing system it implemented, which stands out as a practical and measurable result of its sustainability efforts.

Sustainable future with carbon reset projects

Since 2020, Yemeksepeti has continued to offset its carbon emissions and has left behind its fourth year of carbon reset efforts. In 2023, it reduced Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 36% compared to the previous year through efforts to increase operational efficiency. The company plans to carry this process further with sustainable steps such as increasing energy efficiency and turning to renewable energy sources. These efforts once again demonstrate Yemeksepeti’s commitment to minimizing its environmental impact and contributing to a sustainable future.

Basic criteria for the Green Office Diploma

The Green Office Diploma, awarded by WWF-Turkey, aims to promote environmentally friendly choices in offices. In order to receive this diploma, companies need to raise employee awareness, reduce their consumption of natural resources, implement waste management practices and minimize the use of single-use plastics. In addition, criteria such as sustainable purchasing processes, transportation methods that will create minimum carbon emissions, reducing food waste and reducing carbon footprint are among the conditions that must be met to receive the diploma. Yemeksepeti reinforces its sustainability development journey by successfully meeting these criteria in its office operations.
