Yemeksepeti’s Revolutionary “Pick-up” Service Completed Its First Year Successfully

  • Yemeksepeti’s “Pick-up” service has completed its first year as a practical and fast alternative with impressive success. This service, which has attracted great interest across Turkey, is reshaping consumers’ daily habits by saving time and offering various discounts.

Yemeksepeti, the pioneering brand of fast commerce in Turkey, has successfully completed its first year with the “Pick-up” (Original title in Turkish: Gel Al) service, which has opened a new page in the sector. Following a pilot program launched in certain cities, the Pick-up service, which was launched across Turkey in January 2023, offers many advantages compared to traditional ordering methods. Thanks to this service, users place their discounted orders through Yemeksepeti and find their meals ready when they go to the restaurant.

It attracted great attention thanks to its practicality and speed

The practicality offered by the Pick-up service is becoming an important part of our daily lives. For example, this service makes it possible to save time when buying coffee for the office or ordering pizza before going to the beach.

This innovative service further reinforces Yemeksepeti’s strong position in the sector. Yemeksepeti Pick-up service, which was piloted with 4,000 restaurants, reached 80% restaurant penetration as of February 2023. Currently, the number of active restaurants covered by this service has exceeded 60 thousand. While the usage of the Pick-up service has doubled every quarter, the total active user target for 2024 has been set at 1 million.

Special discounts and coupons offered for Pick-up

While campaigns such as GELAL20, GELAL30 and YAZ100 offer extra discounts on every order, especially the YAZ100 campaign, which continued throughout the season, attracted attention by offering 100 TL discount on orders up to 300 TL on weekends.
In addition to other discounts offered by Yemeksepeti, Pick-up users also benefited from special discounts (such as 1 Eat 1 Gift, Joker, SEPETTE100). For example, in addition to campaigns such as GELAL20, which offers 20% discount from individual restaurants, various campaigns such as KAHVE50, PIZZA60, YAZ100 were organized in the past to cover different cuisines. In its first year, approximately 70 out of every 100 orders placed on Pick-up included various discounts and advantages, and 75% of these orders provided an average discount of 25%.

Kebab and Turkish cuisine was the most preferred at Pick-up

The most preferred cuisines by customers in Yemeksepeti’s Pick-up service were Kebab & Turkish Cuisine, Pizza, Dessert and Coffee, respectively. These flavors are among the prominent options on the platform. Other popular alternatives such as Döner, Pide & Lahmacun and Burger also attract the attention of users. Dessert and Coffee, which are preferred in pleasant moments of daily life, are among the indispensables of traditional and global cuisines. Other types of cuisines such as Fish & Seafood, Patisserie & Bakery, Chicken and World Cuisine are also popular with users of Yemeksepeti Pick-up with their unique flavors.

Active in 81 provinces and the TRNC, the Pick-up service creates additional order frequency for users and does not create internal competition within the ecosystem. This success, which means creating an additional order channel for both Yemeksepeti and member restaurants, further strengthens Yemeksepeti’s leadership in the fast commerce sector.
