With this step, Yemeksepeti once again underlines its commitment to gender equality and social responsibility and continues to advance its policies and practices to empower women within the company.
Yemeksepeti, the leading fast-casual brand in Turkey, announced that it has officially signed the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), jointly developed by UN Women and the United Nations Global Compact, which support gender equality and women’s empowerment in the business world.
Yemeksepeti thereby reaffirms its commitment to gender equality and its actions in this area. The WEPs commitment includes various measures such as increasing the participation of women in the workforce, supporting female leaders and addressing the physical, mental and emotional health and safety of its employees from a gender equality perspective.
The WEPs provide a comprehensive framework for the empowerment of women in business and commit signatory companies to promote gender equality, increase the participation of women in leadership positions and take concrete steps to support their economic empowerment.
Baki: “We value a balanced ratio of women in management”
Mert Baki, CEO of Yemeksepeti, explained that this step on March 8, International Women’s Day, is very gratifying for him and his company. Baki; “Our efforts to increase the proportion of female employees continue unabated. In this context, we are proud that 50% of Yemeksepeti’s leadership team, 45% of the management team and 53% of all employees at the head office are women… However, we have set ourselves the goal of increasing these ratios even further.”
Positive discrimination in human resources
In line with the targets set in consultation with Delivery Hero Europe, steps are being taken to ensure that more women are employed in management positions. For example, since last year, it has ensured that at least 50% of the candidate lists for hiring at management level consist of women. Yemeksepeti also aims to raise awareness of gender equality and the importance of female employees through internal communication measures and is once again demonstrating its commitment to strengthening gender equality in the workplace with these initiatives.
Special leave rights apply to female employees
Yemeksepeti has also established a wide range of leave rights for its female employees. Yemeksepeti, which is sensitive to the special needs of its employees and aims to maintain a balance between work and private life with the arrangements made under its “Beside” concept, offers female employees who have taken their maternity leave the opportunity to take a total of 20 working days of leave until their children turn 1 year old. In addition, employees with kindergarten and primary school children are entitled to a total of 3 days leave per year, 1 day on the first day of school and 2 days on report card day. Yemeksepeti also grants female employees 1 day of leave every month during their menstruation, showing once again that the company stands by them.
